Kerrville Public Utility Board Plans $183.4 Million Power Plant
On May 15, 2025, the Kerrville Public Utility Board (KPUB) in Texas announced plans to build its first-ever power generation facility—a $183.4 million natural gas-fired power plant—as part of a strategic push to enhance energy reliability and cost stability for more than 24,000 customers in Kerr County. This marks a transformative step for KPUB, which until now operated solely as a distribution utility. The investment positions the utility to better manage market volatility, grid disruptions, and extreme weather events, all of which have increasingly impacted the region’s energy landscape.
