Southern California Edison Submits $6.2 Billion Wildfire Mitigation Plan

On May 16, 2025, Southern California Edison (SCE), a subsidiary of Edison International, submitted a comprehensive three-year Wildfire Mitigation Plan (WMP) valued at $6.2 billion to California’s Office of Energy Infrastructure Safety. Covering the years 2026 through 2028, the plan outlines an ambitious strategy to strengthen wildfire risk management and enhance public safety, particularly in high-threat fire zones. The proposal includes major infrastructure upgrades and technological innovations aimed at reducing the risk of utility equipment igniting wildfires—an issue that has become increasingly critical in the wake of extreme weather events and prolonged droughts.
