Expert Highlights Canada’s Role in U.S. Critical Minerals Strategy
On May 14, 2025, during a U.S. Senate Finance Committee hearing, Dr. Gracelin Baskaran from the Center for Strategic and International Studies emphasized Canada’s pivotal role in the United States’ critical minerals strategy. She highlighted that Canada possesses an abundance of critical minerals, including zinc, germanium, and gallium, which are essential for various industries, from electronics to defense. Dr. Baskaran noted that Canada’s uranium reserves are ten times larger than those of the U.S., underscoring the importance of collaboration to reduce reliance on adversarial nations like China.
