Guinea Revokes 51 Mining Licenses to Enforce Sector Compliance
As of May 26, 2025, there have been no new developments reported regarding Guinea’s revocation of mining licenses beyond the actions taken in mid-May. The government had announced the cancellation of 51 mining licenses, citing non-compliance with development timelines and operational requirements. These licenses spanned various minerals, including bauxite, gold, diamonds, graphite, and iron ore, and were repossessed to strengthen national control over the country’s vast mineral resources.
