Global Energy Investment Set to Hit $3.3 Trillion

On June 5, 2025, the International Energy Agency (IEA) released its annual World Energy Investment report, forecasting a historic $3.3 trillion in global energy investment for 2025, driven largely by clean energy technologies. This marks a substantial pivot: approximately $2.2 trillion—more than twice the amount allocated to fossil fuels—will flow into renewables, nuclear power, energy storage, grid upgrades, and other low-carbon initiatives. Notably, solar energy leads the charge with $450 billion in projected investment, while battery storage draws a record-surge of over $65-billion, highlighting a global emphasis on integrating intermittent renewable sources more reliably.
