A recent academic review reveals a major research gap in how Social License to Operate (SLO) is studied within Southeast Asia’s booming mining sector. While global literature often centers on corporate or regulatory perspectives, studies rarely examine the lived experiences and agency of local communities in countries like Indonesia, Laos, and the Philippines—undermining efforts to build inclusive and effective SLO frameworks in the region.
