$636M Investment to Strengthen New York’s Electrification Backbone
On June 11, 2025, the New York State Public Service Commission approved $636 million in funding for a series of grid modernization projects aimed at supporting the state’s ambitious electrification and decarbonization goals. The approved initiatives focus on expanding transmission capacity, improving substation infrastructure, and integrating distributed energy resources to ensure grid reliability amid growing demand from electric vehicles, heat pumps, and renewable energy installations. This funding package aligns with New York’s broader strategy under the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act (CLCPA), which mandates 70% renewable electricity by 2030 and 100% zero-emissions electricity by 2040.
