On June 13, 2025, Peru’s Ministry of Energy and Mines approved the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the Cobreorco copper project, a joint venture between Condor Resources and Teck Resources. This key milestone enables surface drilling and accelerates the permitting process. Teck may acquire up to a 75% stake by investing over US $10 million, reflecting strong confidence in Peru’s copper-rich shale belt. Importantly, the project prioritizes social license through active consultation with two local rural communities. The EIS approval highlights a commitment not only to regulatory compliance but also to building trust and aligning with local development goals. Cobreorco sets a new standard for socially responsible project advancement in the region.
