Systematic Review on CSR Management for Sustainable Development
In January 2025, a systematic review published by Jaroensombut and colleagues examined how Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is being managed to support sustainable development. The study analyzed a broad range of peer-reviewed literature from the past decade and identified three persistent challenges in CSR implementation: difficulty aligning CSR with core business objectives, the lack of rigorous methods to measure CSR’s real-world impact, and widespread stakeholder skepticism about the sincerity and effectiveness of corporate efforts. These challenges, the authors argue, highlight a critical need to move CSR beyond symbolic or marketing-oriented practices and integrate it more deeply into corporate governance and operational decision-making.
