Zambia Reactivates Digital Mining Cadastre
During the week of June 16–22, 2025, Zambia’s Ministry of Mines and Mineral Development officially reactivated its digital mining cadastre system, following a temporary suspension that began on June 1. The portal had been taken offline to complete its integration into a new national platform known as the Zambia Integrated Mining Information System (ZIMIS). With the update now complete, mining companies and stakeholders can once again access core functions such as license applications, renewals, geospatial mapping, fee payments, and real-time public tracking of mining rights. The digital cadastre is considered a cornerstone of Zambia’s mining governance framework and a key mechanism for ensuring transparency in mineral resource management.
