Peru’s Extractive Sector Receives Mixed EITI Review, Urged to Strengthen Civic Engagement

On June 18, 2025, Peru received a Validation score of 74.5 out of 100 from the EITI Board under the 2019 Standard. The assessment evaluated Outcomes and Impact (77), Stakeholder Engagement (75), and Transparency (71.5), reflecting steady but uneven progress. The Board commended efforts to expand multi-stakeholder groups to eight regions and boost open-data access. However, it called for stronger civic engagement and improved dialogue mechanisms. The findings highlight both Peru’s commitment to reform and the gaps that remain. Strengthening participatory governance is vital to bolster social license and trust in resource management.
