PERUMIN 37, Latin America’s most important mining convention, will take place from September 22–26, 2025 in Arequipa, bringing together top executives from global mining giants. The highlight of the event will be the International Mining Leaders Forum on September 23, a central space for debate at the Mining Summit. Moderated by Roque Benavides, Chairman of Buenaventura, the forum will focus on global mineral market trends and the strategic challenges shaping the industry’s future.
The panel features high-level representatives from three of the world’s most influential companies. Tim O’Connor, Director of Exploration at BHP, will bring insights from the company’s global exploration initiatives, including its innovation incubator Xplor. Dale Webb, Senior Vice President of Latin America Operations at Teck Resources, will share perspectives on operational excellence and the company’s copper and zinc portfolio across Canada, Chile, the U.S., and Peru. Completing the panel, Raúl Jacob, CFO of Southern Peru Copper Corporation, will provide a financial and investment outlook, drawing on his expertise in corporate finance and project evaluation.
By bringing together executives from BHP, Teck, and Southern Copper, the forum elevates Peru to the center of global mining dialogue, linking the perspectives of multinational leaders with the priorities of a country that is the world’s second-largest copper producer. The combination of exploration insights, operational strategies, and financial outlooks creates a comprehensive debate on how the industry will navigate shifting commodity markets, technological innovation, and the energy transition. For Peru, this exchange is not only about showcasing its resource potential but also about shaping strategies for attracting investment, strengthening sustainability practices, and reinforcing PERUMIN’s standing as the premier platform where the future of mining in Latin America is defined.
