Peru Gains Ground as a Mining Investment Destination for UAE Capital

Diplomatic Context and Investment Outreach

On October 15, 2025, the Embassy of Peru in the United Arab Emirates hosted the event “Invest in Peru” in Abu Dhabi, in coordination with the Peruvian Business Council and the Peruvian Trade Office (OCEX) in Dubai. The session focused on promoting Peru as a reliable and competitive destination for mining and renewable-energy investment, aligned with the UAE’s strategic priorities in sustainable infrastructure and clean technologies. The initiative aimed to strengthen bilateral cooperation and position Peru as a key Latin American partner for Emirati capital seeking stability, diversification, and long-term returns.

Event Highlights and Strategic Sectors

Held at the Conrad Abu Dhabi Hotel, the event gathered sovereign wealth funds, private investors, chambers of commerce, mining and energy firms, and representatives of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA). Peruvian officials highlighted the country’s macroeconomic stability, clear regulatory framework, and vast portfolio of mining projects, particularly in copper, lithium, and other critical minerals meeting high environmental and social standards. The presentations emphasized how Peru’s mineral wealth aligns with the UAE’s global decarbonization goals and its search for sustainable upstream partnerships to support energy-transition supply chains.

Outlook and Bilateral Momentum

The session concluded with networking and bilateral meetings that paved the way for future alliances in mining, renewable energy, and investment protection. The gathering took place on the eve of the first round of negotiations for the Peru–UAE Agreement on Investment Promotion and Protection (APPRI), attended by representatives of the Ministry of Economy and Finance of Peru. Analysts view this sequence of events as part of a broader diplomatic strategy to diversify Peru’s investment sources beyond traditional partners and to attract Gulf capital to fund large-scale mining and energy projects. The “Invest in Peru” initiative thus reaffirmed the country’s emerging profile as a strategic hub for responsible mining and green growth in Latin America.
