Las Bambas Launches Technical Assistance Program for 12 Municipalities

Building Capacity for Local Governance
Minera Las Bambas has launched the Technical Assistance Program (PAT), an initiative aimed at strengthening public management in twelve municipalities across Apurímac and Cusco. Active until 2028, the program provides continuous training and technical support to local governments in investment planning, budgeting, and project execution. The goal is to enhance transparency, efficiency, and impact in the use of public funds within the mining corridor of southern Peru.

From Investment to Institutional Strengthening
The PAT operates through cooperation agreements with districts in Cotabambas, Challhuahuacho, Haquira, Coyllurqui, Mara, Tambobamba, Progreso, and others in Chumbivilcas and Espinar. A multidisciplinary team accompanies municipal officials to improve the design and implementation of projects under the Invierte.pe system, transforming mining revenues into tangible public goods. By building technical capacity, Las Bambas seeks to leave a legacy that goes beyond its operations—an empowered network of local governments capable of sustaining long-term development.

Toward Sustainable Territorial Governance
More than a corporate responsibility initiative, the program represents a model for collaborative governance in resource-rich regions. By linking mining companies, local authorities, and community stakeholders, the PAT promotes institutional maturity and shared accountability. If successful, it could redefine how extractive regions manage resource-derived wealth—turning mining-driven growth into an enduring foundation for decentralized, equitable development in southern Peru.
